Welcome

We are Bald Peak Equine and specialize in rehabilitation and foaling services for equines in Newberg Oregon. We have been in operation since 1995. We limit the number of horses in therapy to ensure we can dedicate enough time for each horse in our care.

Rehabilitation Services

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy uses the buoyancy of water to allow horses to walk/trot with a more normal gate while taking the stress off their joints.  Because the water helps with weight bearing, it allows the horses to move more freely with less stress and pain.

Magnawave/PEMF

High powered PEMF devices for horses generate results at an accelerated  rate and can be easily adjusted for optimal level of penetration. PEMF  promotes cellular exercise, which increases circulation, blood  oxygenation, and helps the body recovery naturally, while reducing  inflammation, and, relieving pain. Using MagnaWave sends a pulsating  charge through tissues to provide energy to large focal areas like  joints and major muscle groups. Penetration of the charge can be up to  16 inches into the equine body. Twitching muscles help to identify imbalances, pain or sore muscles that need to be further worked on with MagnaWave. By pinpointing the problem areas, the practitioner is able to work at the source of pain rather than just manage its symptoms.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy helps improve the quality of horses life by helping with:

  • Pain management
  • Wound Healing
  • Post surgical healing
  • Nerve regeneration
  • Inflammation reduction
  • Inflammatory diseases
  • Acute musculoskeletal trauma and repair

Shockwave

Shockwave is a treatment that is used for a number of equine injuries. Shockwave aim highly concentrated and powerful sound waves at the affected areas and stimulate the release of growth factors and increasing circulation. Suspensory ligaments, superficial and deep tendons, and other soft tissue injuries have very positive responses to this mode of therapy.

Ultasound

Ultasound

Therapudic ultrasound has three amazing benefits:

  1. Speeding up healing by increasing blood flow
  2. Decrease pain by reducing edema and swelling
  3. Gentle massage of the muscles, tendons, and Ligaments helps loosen/soften scar tissue

These benefits come from the thermal and nonthermal effect of the ultrasound waves.

Studies have shown that therapudic ultasound physically stimulates the cells by vibrating cell membranes which enhances repairs to the inflammatory response and enhancing the cells metabolic rate.

Foaling

Information

We offer foaling services and mare care in 12' by 12' or 12' by 24' stalls for anyone that wants peace of mind that their mare and foal will receive 24/7 expert care with constant video surveillance. Ideally your mare will arrive at least one week before her due date so that she can acclimate to her surroundings and be comfortable with us for the foaling process. Mares get fed multiple meals a day and have turn out time in our 80' foot round pen or in the smaller pastures.

Once they are born foals in our care receive constant monitoring to ensure their start is as strong as possible. We are present for their first steps and first meal to ensure that they know where their milk comes from and that the mare does not have any problems with her baby.

Our local vet, Oakhurst Equine, is 10 minutes away from us if any intervention beyond our capability occurs.

We are accepting reservations for the 2023 foaling season now
